BIOGRAPHY
Raphael Behraz Ghobadloo is a Berlin-based director and screenwriter. He's a staff writer on ZDFneo's acclaimed comedy series Doppelhaushälfte (seasons 5–7) and made his series directing debut with episode 602, "Der Austausch".
Born in Berlin to an Iranian father and a German mother, he grew up between two cultures – a tension that runs through all of his work. After acting in German films and TV shows as a child, he moved behind the camera, worked across departments on film sets and went on to study directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
His graduation film "Alles auf Germania" tackles identity and belonging with sharp humor. It was nominated for the First Steps Award, won Best Short Film at the 27th Filmfestival Türkei Deutschland and aired on MDR and in the ARD Mediathek. His Mercedes-Benz spec commercial "The Last Wish" went viral and won a Gold Spotlight Award and a New York Advertising Award.
He was selected for Netflix's Shadow Directing Program on The Grimm Reality (W&B Television) and took part in Netflix's Grow Creative directors workshop in Istanbul. He works in fiction and commercials with a strong focus on performance and is currently developing the feature version of "Alles auf Germania".
